| Then, I proceeded to think in a way that was to be my habit in the future. I asked |
| myself, “How would this trick begin if I really had magic power?” That is, I |
| visualized the effect without regard to the method. I knew I wanted to simply place the |
| cards over the coins and begin. That seemed to be the logical way to start. The two |
| cards did not seem to lend themselves too much cover. I tried four cards thinking that |
| the extra cards might cause some extra confusion during the manipulation of the coins. |
| Then I tried just covering the coins with the cards. I thumbed a card on top of each |
| coin. I did this several times thinking about what I really wanted to do. I was doing |
| this at home in my bedroom. There I was, sitting on my bed, four coins beside me and |
| me thumbing cards on top of some coins. As I was doing this, a thought occurred to |
| me. I could somehow pick up one coin and carry it to another location under the cards |
| in my hand. Therefore, while thumbing the cards on top of the coins I found I could |
| pick up a coin and deposit it at another location. That solved the problem. |
| I thought it was quite brilliant. However, I thought it was also obvious. Surely, no one |
| would be impressed with this. I compared it with the Sympathetic Coins method and |
