the difference was like night and day. It really was cleaner. Therefore, I continued to
play with it. Eventually it became clear to me that this method of transferring the coin
was very clean. Nevertheless, I had little confidence that my fellow magicians would
be impressed.
 
There is an interesting aside here. In showing the move to people over the years, many
have complained that the move is very difficult to do. The reason is that I conceived it
while I was sitting on a bed. In this position, your hands are reaching down and the
palms of the hands can be comfortably palm up. The motions required to pick a coin
up and put the coin down are easy. However, the same motions are quite difficult
while sitting at a table. There, one must twist one’s wrists in order to accomplish
the same moves with the same clarity.
 
Moving on, I felt I had solved the initial awkward card manipulation. Perhaps I could
improve the effect more by eliminating the need to vanish the coins during the first two
coin transfers. With what I had at this point I could cover the four coins and use
vanishes on the first two coins and the third would be real, magic. However, I wanted
something better. I played with using a card to help vanish the coin. Something like,
pick up a card covering a coin, use the card to pick up the coin and apparently dump
the coin into the hand while actually retaining it against the card. Therefore, I was
