An Active Centric Approach
Then there are those people that take what I call here an Active Centric approach.
They uncover two coins to show that they are indeed under the cards. Then they cover
the coins again and uncover them again picking up one coin and dropping another as
the cards are raised to show that a coin has traveled through space. I believe this
reduces the effectiveness of the effect for the performer is obviously doing something
to cause the magic to happen. In the Passive Approach, the magic apparently happens
without human intervention.

The Big Coin Syndrome
Some people use the Matrix routine as a device to produce a big coin. In essence the
performance of Matrix convinces the audience there are no big coins under the cards.
The routine also keeps their attention off of the cards while the big coin is loaded. I
believe the production of a big coin should be reserved for a routine in which coins are
produced.
