putting things on the table without stress. The whole point here is that your actions do
not indicate to the audience that you are performing a trick. When the cards and coins
are on the table ready to go I say, “A matrix is a rectangular array”. Which is
followed with, “And this is a rectangular array of coins and cards”.

In the next phase I prepare the cards for the magic performance. The deck is dropped
to the side. Then each card is rotated ninety degrees. The left hand moves up
to the upper left card and the right moves to the upper right card. The left
rotates its card clockwise. As the card is rotated the left thumb hits the just added coin
and rotates it with the card so as to remain hidden from the view of the audience. The
right hand rotates its card so the long edge of the card is brought in line with the edge
of the coin there in preparation for the Schneider Pickup Move. Both hands move at
the same time. Then the left goes to the lower left card while the right goes to
the lower right card. There the left rotates the card clockwise bringing the
long edge of the card in alignment with the edge of the coin. The right hand rotates its
card being sure to not reveal that there is nothing under the card, All of this
has been done quickly without a word suggesting you are lining the cards up to get
ready to perform the trick.
